Garbage Pick-Up:
Weekly pick-up.

City of Rock Island is the garbage hauler.

Holiday Garbage Collection Schedule:
Please check your newspaper, the City’s website or call City Hall for the holiday schedule.

Yard/Landscape Pick-Up:
A yard waste Curbside Pick- up service is available for an annual subscription fee of $100.00 for residents that prefer a curbside service. Subscribers will be required to place a yard waste sticker on each bag. The yard waste collection season is from the first week in April through the first week in December. Subscriber’s bundled brush will be collected for free and does not require a sticker. Yard waste and brush will be collected one day per week throughout the season. Subscription applications are available at City Hall, the Public Works Department and on the city’s website at www.rigov.org.

The yardwaste Drop-Off Site is available for residents seeking a lower cost option. The drop-off site is located at the Public Works facility, 1301 Mill Street. The site is open on Saturdays, 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. from the first week of April through the first week of December.

Burning Regulations:
Residents may burn leaves on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays during daylight hours only.

Bulky Waste:
The City currently provides one clean-up week each year, in the Spring, to help with removal of bulky items. Spring clean-up week is held the last full work week in April. Pick-up is on the same day as your regular refuse collection day.

Recycling Options:
Residents can recycle using the countywide drop-off sites; refer to Drop-Off Sites and Guidelines.
Rock-Island hosts one drop-off site located at:
16th Avenue & 24th Street.
